E&O: Introduction to Homeowners

What happens with the Homeowners policy when a marriage is breaking up and a spouse moves out of the household? How do you know when your customer’s hobbies might be considered a “business?” Are you covered when renting your home through a home-sharing network like Airbnb? Are intentional acts by children covered under the policy? We are faced with questions like these regularly, and the policy itself is a critical resource. In this session, we will explore these questions and review eligibility and definitions while focusing on coverage provided under the liability section of the policy.
The class will use discussion points to help participants become aware of situations that can be resolved with endorsements or risk management practices. This is a great class for anyone who works in personal lines, or who would like a stronger understanding of the homeowners policy.
** This class will satisfy the Illinois Ethics requirement.
